Nutritional & fortified yeasts

Lesaffre Human Care provides nutritional and fortified yeasts intended for manufacturers in the field of food/dietary supplements and functional foods.

Primary grown inactive yeast is produced specifically for its inherent nutritional components. Such nutritional yeast is naturally rich in B vitamins, minerals, dietary fibers and high quality proteins. It is a good ingredient for vegetarian diets.

Nutritional yeast can be fortified with B vitamins or minerals during or after fermentation. Two types of fortified yeasts are manufactured:

  • Type 1 fortified yeast: direct addition of B vitamins or minerals to the fermentation stage
  • Type 2 fortified yeast: addition of B vitamins or minerals after inactivation
